The app that tells you the number of Covid-19 cases in your postcode

As the number of coronavirus cases in Australia climbs to nearly 6,000, the NSW Government has made an addition to its Service NSW app that reveals the number of cases according to postcode.

The app shows you the number of people that have been tested and cleared in your local area, and also tells you how many people have tested, cleared or died from the virus in the state.

“If you download the Service New South Wales app, you will get daily updates on COVID-19, and also get text messages about positive advice that you might like to adhere to,” NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said on Wednesday morning.

More than 1.6 million people have already downloaded the Service NSW app, she said.

You can also use the app to access your digital driver’s license as well as check and renew your registrations, check fines and demerits, and check other government services online.

The number of cases in NSW now total 2,734 after 48 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded overnight.

The number of new cases recorded each day has steadily been declining in recent weeks.

The state premier has flagged that social distancing restrictions will be assessed on a month-by-month basis, and some restrictions in the state could even be eased as early as May based on health advice.

“If the advice in a couple of weeks is that there might be a couple of aspects that we can tweak to provide relief to our citizens, well then, we’ll take that advice,” Berejiklian said this morning.

The federal government has also released the Coronavirus Australia app, which provides updates on official information and advice, such as up-to-date number of cases in the country as well as information about symptoms and relevant contacts.
